Origin & History

History

Over 120 years ago, Velayutham Doctor RIMP established his roots in the serene village of Derisanamcope, located at the foothills of the sacred Thadaka Hills. A highly respected scholar in astrology, traditional medicine, and Kali worship, he dedicated his life to both spiritual service and community well-being.

He regularly conducted Sri Chakra Poojas, Kali Poojas, and Full Moon (Pournami) Poojas, offering spiritual guidance to devotees while also serving the healthcare needs of the surrounding communities. Alongside his spiritual responsibilities, he managed the Thadikaarakonam Ayurvedic Hospital and Thittuvilai Ayurvedic Hospital, earning deep respect for his healing service.

His spiritual and medical legacy was continued by his son, Sathasivam (MIH), who actively assisted in both medical practice and sacred rituals. Following him, his son Muralidharan (B.A., Diploma in Astrology) carried forward the family’s divine traditions with deep devotion and commitment.

Muralidharan continued the sacred Pournami Poojas while also serving at Sri Sarada Ayurvedic Hospital. Through the introduction of Dr.L.Mahadevan, he was blessed with the opportunity to meet Kalady Siddhar Venkateswaran Swamiji. During Guru Pournami, at the sacred Jeeva Samadhi of Sadguru Sri SadaSiva Brahmendral in Nerur, he received mantra initiation from the revered Siddhar.

This profound spiritual experience marked a turning point in his journey. From that day onward, regular poojas dedicated to Sadguru Sri SadaSiva Brahmendral began with renewed devotion.

Nearly a decade later, during another sacred Guru Pournami, devotees witnessed a miraculous event the divine image of Sadguru Sri SadaSiva Brahmendral appeared to come alive before their eyes. Deeply moved by this extraordinary blessing, and under the guidance of Siddhar Venkateswaran Swamiji, the formal Aaradhana Pooja for Sadguru Sri SadaSiva Brahmendral was officially established.

Later, Dr.L.Mahadevan introduced Thirumalai Kodi Sripuram Sakthi Amma to Muralidharan, opening yet another divine chapter in Sreemadam’s journey.

Initially, an idol of Ambal was installed, but it was later felt that a larger and more spiritually suitable idol was needed. Through divine grace, Muralidharan’s wife, Geetha Amma, received a larger Narayani Ambal idol with the blessings of Sripuram Sri Sakthi Amma.

A Vedic scholar was invited to perform the consecration ceremony on a Full Moon day. Although there was an unexpected concern regarding the absence of the traditional Pournami Tithi, the attending astrologer offered divine reassurance, and the ceremony proceeded successfully under sacred blessings.

Soon after, Sripuram Sakthi Amma personally blessed Sreemadam and expressed her wish to be spiritually present during every future Pournami Pooja.

From that divine moment onward, devotees began experiencing the living presence of Sri Maha Lakshmi at the sacred site, and the place came to be lovingly known as “Sreemadam.”

Since then, all spiritual ceremonies and sacred rituals at Sreemadam have continued under the divine blessings and guidance of Sripuram Sri Sakthi Amma.

During the sacred Maha Pushkarani festival of the Thamirabarani River, Sripuram Sakthi Amma visited the region and was graciously hosted by Dr.L.Mahadevan. Following her visit to Sreemadam and the special pooja conducted there, renowned Sri Vidya devotee Dr.K.Chidambaram participated in the sacred Purna Kumbha ceremony, received holy saffron blessings, and shared his blessings with all devotees present.

Under the divine guidance of Sripuram Sri Sakthi Amma and Dr.K.Chidambaram, sculptor Raja created a new sacred idol of Goddess Ambal, which was later consecrated by Vedic scholars at Sreemadam.

Since that auspicious occasion, Sreemadam Sri Bala Peedam has continued to serve as a center for spiritual growth by conducting regular poojas, religious gatherings, and Hindu spiritual classes (Samaya Vaguppu) dedicated to the Divine Mother.

Today, Sreemadam stands as a sacred symbol of devotion, healing, tradition, and divine grace continuing a legacy that has been passed down through generations in service to both spirituality and humanity.
